What are Mantras and why are they so powerful?

The word mantra comes from Sanskrit and means to liberate the mind (MAN: mind; TRA: liberation).

Mantras are a type of sound, Word, or phrase that has spiritual and psychological power.

Although the Mantras, due to their Sanskrit roots, can be considered as a Hindu practice, in reality, most religions and traditions incorporate the use of chanting.

Why are they so powerful?

Sanskrit sounds are scientific and specific frequencies that are associated with your Chakras and help to balance and energize them.

In that sense, it is thought that vibrations produced by Mantras have healing effects that also fill us with strength and energy.

Besides, many studies have shown that chanting mantras reduces stress levels and that, because of their repetition, they are a mini-meditation.

Mantras are a fundamental tool used in yoga and meditation to help calm the ego. As we repeat and concentrate on a mantra, our mind has no space or time for other thoughts and, therefore, we can relax and meditate more deeply.

Finally, Sanskrit mantras provide ancient wisdom, which helps us to get a better connection with ourselves and the world around us.

Some of the most popular mantras are:

·            OM (A-U-M)

·            OM MANI PADME HUM

·            OM NAMAH SHIVAYA

·            LOKAH SAMASTAH SUKHINO BHAVANTU

Keys to chant Mantras:

·            Start with just one and use it for a couple of weeks.

·            Do it in a quiet place and be constant.

·            You can chant it twice a day or whenever you can.

·            Clear your mind, concentrate on the sound, and stay focused.

·            When you are reciting one, try to pronounce as well as possible.

Mantras create energy. So don’t try to understand them, just focus on what you want, get into the consciousness of your being and wake up!
